Morning session
October 9th, 2018
This is an online training session captured with Go-To-Meeting. The focus of the session was an introduction to the Open Data Cube and a demo of the online open data cube user interface tool. The session also included detailed discussions of Tanzania use-cases and application needs.
YouTube Recording:
https://youtu.be/Z89WNdThaKc | 2 hours
Homework:
Visit the online User Interface. Create a SMALL cloud-free mosaic. Identify an area of water and create a water detection (WOFS) time series result. Use the "pixel tool" to review the data for a specific location.
Wednesday, October 10 (4 hours)
7:00 am (USA) or 2:00 pm (Tanzania)
User Interface Examples (Mosaics, Water, Indices)
9:00 am (USA) or 4:00 pm (Tanzania)
Notebooks: Cloud Statistics, Cloud-filtered Mosaics, GeoTIFF Downloads
Homework:
Create copies of the Cloud Statistics and Mosaic notebooks. Identify a SMALL region of interest. Analyze the cloud statistics and find a good year with plenty of clear data. Create a cloud-free mosaic for one year and output the result in a GeoTIFF. If you have QGIS, view the GeoTIFF output file.
Wednesday, October 11 (4 hours)
7:00 am (USA) or 2:00 pm (Tanzania)
Notebooks: Water Extent
9:00 am (USA) or 4:00 pm (Tanzania)
Notebooks: Spectral Indices (Agriculture, NDVI phenology)
Homework:
Create copies of any notebooks and run 1 or 2 case studies. Use SMALL areas to lower the execution times. In the case of water, can you identify and areas of concern or flood risk that might be investigated further? In the case of agriculture, can you identify any variations in crop phenology or spectral indices for different types of crops?
Friday, October 12 (4 hours)
7:00 am (USA) or 2:00 pm (Tanzania)
Notebooks: Land Change (NDVI anomaly, PyCCD)
9:00 am (USA) or 4:00 pm (Tanzania)
Notebooks: Tanzania Use-Cases
